START A BACKYARD WORSHIP
First
Every good thing starts with a thought. Once you have an idea, develop plans and verbalize them to your friends or family. It doesn’t have to be big, and could even be as simple as a Bible study. The key is consistency.
Second
On a basketball court, it takes all five players playing together as a team to win a game. In the same way, you will need a team of people that can help you get this going. You can ask your friends, family, youth group peers, or anyone that you trust. Some people you may need on your team are: Musicians, Singers, Game person(s), Social media person(s), and someone to bring a message.
Third
A key part of your growth is how you promote your event. Some of the most successful ways we have been able to promote backyard worship are: passing out invite cards, posting on social media platforms, and through personal invitation. Finding an effective way to promote your backyard worship is essential to moving this gospel to your city.
Fourth
Once you’ve promoted backyard worship, and you have guests show up, you need to find ways to connect with them one on one. Some of the best ways to do that can be getting their phone number, asking them to do a one on one bible study, personal invites to church functions or small groups, or even asking them to hang out and go eat. Keeping your guests connected will not only help you grow, but it will better equip you to have revival.
Last
Just start and stay consistent. Keep a steady time that you have it, whether it be once a month, once every two weeks, or even every week, just stay consistent. Plan out everything you do well in advance, so you will be prepared if something changes, and always have a backup plan in case things like weather don’t permit you to be in the backyard. Revival in your community can start with you in your backyard. It just takes being obedient to the words of Jesus, “Go…and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). What better place for an outpouring to start, than in your own backyard?
